New Executive Director

Welcome Heather Himes, our new Executive Director of United Way of Lamar County.

"It has been a rare and distinctive joy to have a career that demands giving back to the community. I have worked for 18 years to support and advocate for the education, wellness, and financial stability of those most in need across North Texas. I am delighted to begin giving back to my new home of Lamar County."

Starting her career in the arts, Heather Himes worked at The McKinney Avenue Contemporary, where she started an arts management internship program for high school and college students, while managing the fundraising, marketing, and membership, increase event attendance by 200%. She left to start her own arts non-profit, which conducted lectures and public relations campaigns throughout the Dallas area.

She then joined an organization, whose mission it was to build homeless shelters, and partnered on national fundraising events with Mattel and Warner Bros. Pictures. She also sat on the Metro Dallas Homeless Alliance in the initial efforts for a comprehensive homeless shelter, The Bridge, in Dallas. The past decade of her career has been in higher education, focusing primarily on building relationships with corporations and private foundations, where she successfully planned fundraising campaigns and raised over $25 million.

Heather has a Bachelor's of Art Degree in Arts & Performance with a concentration in Art History and Creative Writing from University of Texas at Dallas. She joined our Paris community ten months ago with her husband, two sons and father.
