UNITED WAY OF LAMAR COUNTY CAMPAIGN RAISES MORE THAN $677,000 TO SUPPORT LOCAL NON-PROFIT PROGRAMS
Paris, TX – (February 15, 2017) – United Way of Lamar County (UWLC) today announced the community raised more than $677,000 to help 21 non-profit programs improve lives through their work in Lamar County. Strong volunteer partnerships with local businesses, community events and a focus on the building blocks to a better life – education, income and health – led to strong annual campaign that will assist in addressing local needs, and build a brighter future for Lamar County.
“Exceeding our campaign goal speaks volumes about the caring and compassionate people who live in Lamar County,” said Trey Glascock, 2017 Campaign Chair. “We are very thankful to all of our donors who are investing in our community through United Way to help change lives for the better. Our promise is to make sure we fund programs that create positive lasting change in our community”.
“We are extremely thankful to the local industries, businesses and organizations who hosted workplace campaigns, and especially the thousands who gave to this year’s campaign,” says UWLC Executive Director, April Carl. “Year after year, we create community impact through our partner programs and initiatives; and this year will be no different. The work we are able to accomplish together with our funded partners will continue to directly improve the quality of life for all of us in our community.”

UWLC awards funds through a competitive grant process focused on supporting vital programs in the areas of education, income, health, and basic support services. 2017 Grant recipients include: American Red Cross, ATCOG – Paris Metro, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Boys and Girls Club, Boy Scouts NETSEO, , Dylan’s Drivers, ETCADA, Paris/Lamar County Habitat for Humanity, Imagination Library, Lakes Regional MHMR – Innovative Enterprises, LC Child Welfare Board, LC Coalition of Education, Business & Industry, LC Downtown Food Pantry, LC Human Resource Council, LC Literacy Council, New Hope Center, RRV Down Syndrome Society, RSVP, SAFE-T, The King’s Daughters & Sons, & The Salvation Army.
